What You’ll Need:

  • A soft-bristled toothbrush
  • Fluoride toothpaste
  • Dental floss (optional)
  • Mouthwash (optional)

Steps:

Choose the Most Suitable Tools: Go for a soft-bristled toothbrush which, however, has to be the size of your oral cavity based on your personal comfort. Get a fluoride toothpaste which has been approved by the dental association you rely on.

Apply Toothpaste: Put a pea-sized amount of toothpaste onto the toothbrush by squeezing it out of the toothpaste tube.

Brush at the Correct Angle: Position the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle from your gums. This way of holding your toothbrush cleans the gum line, which is the area where plaque mostly gathers.

Work with Gentle, Circular Movements: Use gentle, small circular movements for cleaning the outer surfaces of your teeth. Adhere to the method of not using violent movements that can lead to the abrasion of the enamel and to the irritation of the gums.

Cover All Soil: Brush the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of all the teeth. Particularly, do not forget back molars, because they are the most difficult to reach teeth.

Brush for Two Minutes: Take at least 2 minutes to brush, ensuring that the upper and lower teeth get an equal share of your two-minute schedule. One way to make the job a lot easier is by using a timer or an electric toothbrush built-in with a timer if you ever think you are forgetful.

Scrape Your Tongue: Clean your tongue by brushing it softly to get rid of bacteria which makes your breath fresher.

Do the Rinsing and Spitting Process: Take some water into your mouth, swish it around, and then spit the water out along with the toothpaste. If you swallow the toothpaste, an upset stomach can be the result.

Use Floss and Mouthwash (If Needed): A dental floss, thrown in between teeth, will help in getting rid of the food particles that could be present in between the teeth before using a mouthwash for refreshing breath and protection.

Some Extra Tips (My personal routine):

Sometimes it is not enough to brush your teeth once, I would suggest you to brush twice a day—once in the morning and once before bed.

Old is Gold doesn’t apply here, you must replace your toothbrush every 3 or max 4 months or when bristles fray.

Don’t forget to visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings.

By following this simple routine on a daily basis, you can keep your teeth and gums healthy and maintain a bright smile!
